Yesterday we got to spend the day in Antigua, it was the day before Independence Day here so there was people EVERYWHERE and when I say everywhere I mean like no room on the sidewalk to walk. Our squad leader that was with us bring us to a coffee shop that has “the best carrot cake” except they were out… We asked for the next best coffee shop in Antigua and “Fat Cat” is what he said.

Jordan, Victoria, and I walk in the door of this shop and are quickly greeted by two Australian guys. HAHA how wild right? In Guatemala to minister and activate the church here then we run into foreigners who also speak English???? The Lord is definitely blessing us with the language each day we learn and digest more of the Spanish culture. It is amazing, but I am so thankful that my first encounter here with sharing the full Gospel was in a language I am familiar with. We invite Joel and Dylan to sit with us over coffee. Jordan and I talk to Joel while Victoria talks to Dylan. When they sit down the Lord made it very clear to me that I would not walk away from this conversation without my Bible (keep this in your back pocket, this is very important.)

I share with Joel how I started reading my Bible when I was 12 and really didn’t understand the whole thing until someone showed me that the Lord desires to have a relationship with me when I was 16. He was intrigued, and wanted to know more. Jordan shares a large part of how the Lord has changed the desires of his heart over the last year and how things just continue to be revealed to him. As we are talking to Joel I hear Victoria say “I wish I had my Bible with me I would give it to you so you can read it” Honestly, my heart dropped because I didn’t want this to be true. I grabbed my bag and handed it to him, and told him to start in John.

“Can I share with you what we believe?” “Yeah, of course please!” Joel replied. “In the beginning God created everything. It was beautiful. He created man and He created man in His image. But man messed up and sinned which separated us from God. So now we have this issue and we are lost now. But because God is good and desires to have a relationship with us He sent His Son to die and suffer on a cross for our sins, not only this but three days later Jesus resurrected and is alive now today and sits at the right hand of the Father.”

We leave and go to lunch, after lunch we are on our way to find another coffee shop. We run into some familiar faces on the way, Joel and Dylan. We waved said hi, and continued to the coffee shop. We find this beautiful coffee shop that has a rooftop looking over Guatemala, for about an hour we just relax and take it all in. We finally decide it is probably time we head back to the base. We get up and turn the corner to go downstairs, and again we see familiar faces… Joel and Dylan enjoying an açaí bowl. We stop and visit and wish them the best of luck on their journey down Central America.

Okay God.

My prayers today are that 1. Joel’s seed would be planted in fertile soil. That he would remember this conversation, and that his heart would be plagued with the Lord. 2. For an English Bible to show up, because I am in a Spanish speaking country and there are no English Bible’s to buy around here.
